Who Will Be The 3000 Soldier To Die For Bush's Lies?

Today is supposed to be a day for celebrating, but I don't feel much like it.  Today the 3000th American soldier died in Iraq in a war that is unnecessary, based on lies and prosecuted in an almost criminally negligent fashion.

George Bush has recently been comparing himself to Harry Truman.  He's right that the buck stops with him, that the blame for each and every one of these soldiers.  But he doesn't deserve to compare himself to such a serious, considered and great man.

Instead, he gets a more appropriate comparison:

Mr. 3000 - George Bush

The U.S. military in Iraq reached a grim milestone at year's end as the Pentagon announced a toll of at least 3,000 soldiers dead.

Specialist Dustin Donica, 22, of Spring, Texas, who was killed Thursday by small arms fire in Baghdad, was the 3,000th soldier to die, the Defence Department said Sunday.

Specialist Donica and family are in our prayers, as are the remaining U.S. forces, their families, and the Iraqi civilians who live admid this carnage every day. God bless them all, and God bless us now and in the coming year. We need it.

3,000 & Corzine (0.00 / 0)
I logged into icasualities.org earlier and saw we had hit 3,000.  I debated posting and hesitated on grounds of NJ relevance -- but love your graphic.  Of course, it's relevant, especially when Corzine went to Iraq last month and said increase troop levels and be prepared for NJ guard to be there for at least two more years.  I've heard that Corzine doesn't think his position was adequately explained in the press.  And I for one, would LOVE to hear the more complete explanation of what he meant.

As far as I'm concerned the only position to take vis-a-vis the 110th Congress, is BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW.  Since they without pressure they'll, as Congresswoman Maxine Waters says, nuance it to death until we end up doing more destruction and less reconstruction for ANOTHER four years.

Highland Park will hold a candlelight vigil on New Years' Day at 6pm, as will others.  AFSC.org should have the roundup of the vigils.
