Weinberg and Molinelli (0.00 / 0)

Senator Weinberg had a golden opportunity when she held up Molinelli's nomination for Prosecutor to find out what he had done or hadn't done and what is schedule was.  For some reason, that did not happen.

Do you know something the Senator doesn't? Senator Weinberg could not in good conscience continue to hold up that nomination on a "gut" feeling.  

Let's focus on the criminals here and quit blaming the victims, shall we?

It isn't blaming the victims to bring up what has been done by people with the opportunity to act already.

I doubt that I know everything that the Senator knows.  But, I do know enough to say that she had a golden opportunity to bring it up either in public or private and if she wasn't satisfied with the answer, to continue to hold the nomination.

These people are the ones who are now advocating MERGING municipalities in NJ and consolidating power into a few hands.

I think merging municipalities is more about bringing down property taxes and sharing services to save money and is a good idea across the whole state, not just Bergen County.

someone now working on a municipal budget, I have to tell you, don't count out the bloated County Government in your calculations.  

Could we do without County Government and just deal with the state?  Look at NY state.  what happens when a city gets too big?  Some wards get forgotten or treated better than others.  Look at upstate NY before you really talk up consolidation.  We are already sharing services.  Our firefighters, ambulance, police often perform mutual aid.  Often the folks who keep wanting us to share services don't realize we already are.

Once again, my point is lost - the folks advocating how this is to happen are suspect.

....matthewjordan is right; there are way too many "local authorities" and way too much duplcation of services/efforts/bureaucracies.

Unfortunately, we live in a very imperfect NJ.

The Ferriero owned/dominated BCDO will do all it can to expand it's power and to expand the revenues entering the coffers of it's allies/cronies/"contributors".    

As I read your remarks, Carol, the BCDO...if it could get away with it; would simply fold towns like Bergenfield and Tenafly into some other/larger entity just to achieve the result of putting democratic Democrats out of office.

Somebody committed a serious forgery in re Bergenfield's election.   This is an extremely serious matter....and, so far, there is zero indication that the state AG's office has done anything at all.

Even if they can't come up with a criminal indictment there should at least be a complete public REPORT on whatever they could find.   This incident puts into question the whole electoral progress in Bergen County.

In my opinion messing with elections (at any level) needs to be a federal offense that gets the same kind of intense/rapid response that, say, a kidnapping would get.

Our electoral process is the very heart and soul of our democracy.  Those who would dare to commit criminal acts to alter the results of an election are the functional equivalent of Al Qaeda! (Another group that seems to "hate our freedoms".)

Consolidation, sadly, has become a catchphrase for corrupt machines looking to expand their cash flow/base of operation.

There really is no policy answer to all this; it's a matter of law enforcement (not likely to happen since the people who write and enforce the laws seem to be under the thumbs of the people who run the corrupt machines) and, ultimately....a matter of enough actual people/voters understanding that they are being screwed and coming out to vote in massive numbers....numbers too big to "fix".
